About Christopher


Christopher Kelly is a novelist, editor and critic whose work has appeared in Texas Monthly, The New York Times, Slate, Salon, The Boston Globe and numerous other publications. His first novel, A Push and a Shove (2007), was published by Alyson Books and won the Lambda Literary Foundation Award for Best Debut Novel. His new novel, The Pink Bus, will be published by Lethe Press in June 2016. 

Kelly was born in 1974 in Staten Island, New York and graduated from Dartmouth College. From 2000 to 2012, he served as chief film critic of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram; and from 2006 to 2014, he served as writer-at-large for Texas Monthly, where he wrote the "Hollywood, TX" column, as well as long-form feature on Fantastic Fest, the Miss Texas pageant, and the two men who sued Texas for the right to marry. 

Since 2014, Kelly has been managing editor in charge of features and entertainment coverage for the Newark Star-Ledger and NJ.com. 

Kelly lives in the New York City area with his husband, Neritan Xhaferi, and is currently at work on his next novel.
